Hey all, Welcome back to Crazy Errors! I hope all is well out there. Are you using an HP DeskJet printer, and it has suddenly stopped working, showing offline? Step 1: Check the Wi-Fi Light on the Printer:

The first thing you should check is HP DeskJet printer’s little blue light. This light shows the condition of your Wi-Fi connectivity.

  • If the blue light is blinking, it means your printer is not connected to Wi-Fi.
  • If the blue light is solid, your printer is on and connected , but may require reconfiguration on your computer.
  • If the blue light is not on, press the Wi-Fi button on your printer to activate it so that it can synchronize with your Wi-Fi network.

Step 2: Identify the Problem:

In the example we’re working with, the user saw that the Wi-Fi light was blinking. It was working perfectly, but as soon as i installed fresh cartridges, it stopped printing. The printer displayed Offline on the computer screen.

Step 3: Use the HP Smart Application:

To verify the problem and make life simple, we suggest you use the HP Smart app, which is a handy app to manage HP printers.

We also made a video explaining the installation and use if you haven’t already installed it.

The app is available for Windows and Mac, and in our case, it was able to confirm the printer was showing as offline.

Step 4: Put the Printer in Discoverable Mode:

The majority of HP DeskJet printers do not have a full touchscreen panel. Instead, they have a Spartan display that displays simple info and error codes.

For models such as the HP DeskJet 4100, do the following:

  • Locate the Wi-Fi button and the X (Cancel/Delete) button on the printer.
  • Simultaneously press and hold both buttons for approximately 4-5 seconds.
  • The power button will begin to flash—this indicates that the printer is in Discoverable Mode.
  • Release the buttons and then wait for the blue Wi-Fi light to start blinking again.

Step 5: Add the Printer via the HP Smart App:

With the printer in Discoverable Mode:

  • Launch the HP Smart app.
  • Hide or delete the existing printer setup.
  • Go to the “Add” option and look for the printer( e.g., HP Desk 4100) set up in the Add Printer toolbox.
  • Please press the “Setup”, and “Continue” buttons on the touchscreen.
  • Type in your Wi-Fi password or have it auto-detected.
  • Press and release the ”i” button on the printer when asked.

If the blue Wi-Fi light becomes solid, your printer is connected!

Step 6: Confirm Connection and Test Print:

  • Return to your Windows system:
  • Open Printers & Scanners (I’m using Windows 11, but the process is the same for Windows 10).
  • Find your printer, right-click, and choose “Printer Properties”.
  • Click on “Print Test Page”.

That will generate a new print job for your printer. If the test page prints without difficulty, congrats- you’re back in the game!

Conclusion:

That’s all how you can fix the HP DeskJet printer offline issue— type, particularly after WiFi restore or new router installation. If you follow the steps described below, it’s a relatively simple process.
