In this blog, we will look at how to scan from HP Printer to Mac using HP Smart with a step-by-step process on how to scan documents.

How to Scan from HP Printer to Mac Using HP Smart

Step 1: Download and install HP Smart.

First, download the HP Smart app for Mac. Follow these steps:

  • Open the App Store app on your Mac.
  • Type HP Smart for Desktop in the search box, and then press Enter.
  • Find the HP Smart app in the results, and then click Download or Get to install it.
  • When the installation finishes, open the HP Smart app.

Step 2: Set Up Your Printer

Upon opening HP Smart, a dashboard filled with all your connected HP printers will appear. If you don’t see your printer, try these:

  • Open up the Setup profile or add a printer in the HP Smart dashboard.
  • Simply follow the instructions on the on-screen to correlate your HP printer to receive functions. Make sure that your printer is on and connected to the same network as your Mac.
  • After you have added your printer, you will see it in the dashboard, ready to use.

Step 3: Initiate the Scan

Now that your printer is back online, you’re ready to scan. Here’s how:

  • First, find the Printer Scan tile in one of the HP Smart dashboard feature tabs, then click on it.
  • A window will pop up showing you scanning options. In the top-right corner, you’ll find settings where you can make adjustments to your scan, including the resolution or the file format.
  • Choose the scanning source for either the feeder (the place where you will load multiple pages) or the glass (ideal for single-page or flatbed scanning). For instance, if you’re scanning a single page, select Glass.
  • Load the document in the selected source (feeder or glass) and press the Scan button at the tower of the toolbar.
  • The scanner will start; it may take a few seconds to complete.

Step 4: Review and Save Your Scan

After the scan completes, HP Smart enables you to change the scanned document:

  • If necessary, click the Edit button to adjust parameters such as brightness, contrast, or orientation. You can also try rotating the document if it’s not oriented properly.
  • If you are happy with the scan, click the Save button at the top right of the screen.
    • A dialog box will display, enabling you to:– Select a name for your scanned document.
    • Choose where to save the file on your Mac (such as your Desktop or a specific folder).
  • Name the file that you like, choose where you want it stored, click Continue and your document is saved.
