How to Transfer Quicken Data to a New Computer
Whether you’re switching from Windows to Windows, Mac to Mac, or even Mac to Windows, this tutorial covers everything you need. Let’s get started.
Step 1: Connect an External Drive to Your Old Computer
To begin the transfer, you need a storage device such as:
- A USB flash drive
- An external hard drive
- Any portable storage device
Connect it to your old PC or Mac.
Step 2: Create a Complete Backup of Your Quicken File
- Open the Quicken application on your old computer.
- Click on the File menu at the top-left corner.
- Select Copy or Backup File.
- Choose Create a Complete Backup.
- Click Next.
To make the file easier to identify later:
- Check Add date to backup file name
- Check Add time to the backup file name

- Click New Folder
- Name it Quicken
- Click Open
Finally:
- Click Save
- Click Restore Backup
